Welcome to Turlock Community Gardens!

We are a dedicated space where families, volunteers, and community members can come together to cultivate a sense of belonging, sustainability, and empowerment. Our mission is to create an inclusive environment where everyone can access healthy food, learn about gardening, and connect with others.

  • The Free Food Pantry at Turlock Community Gardens provides essential food items to individuals and families in need. It’s open to everyone, offering a variety of non-perishable and other pantry staples, helping to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry. Our goal is to foster a sense of care and support, making sure all families have access to nutritious food regardless of their circumstances.

  • The Free Garden Supply Cabinet offers gardening tools, seeds, and other essential supplies to help community members start or maintain their own gardens. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or a beginner, this resource is available to all who need it. Our goal is to encourage sustainable practices, empower families to grow their own food, and provide the tools necessary to create thriving gardens in every backyard.

  • The Free Soil Station provides nutrient-rich soil to help community members grow their own plants and gardens. Open to anyone in need, this station offers free soil, compost, and other soil amendments to promote healthy and sustainable gardening. It’s just one of the many ways we’re working to help the community embrace sustainable gardening and grow fresh, healthy produce.

  • These Free Little Libraries are community-driven book sharing hubs where everyone can take or leave a book. We have two locations: one designed specifically for children, with books at their height, encouraging young readers to explore and discover new stories. The other serves all ages, providing access to a variety of books for everyone in the community. These libraries foster literacy, a love of reading, and promote a sense of sharing and community connection. Whether you're looking for your next read or want to donate a book, our Free Little Libraries are here for you!

  • We host a variety of free events and garden workshops designed to educate, inspire, and bring our community together. From gardening tips and sustainable practices to fun family activities, our events provide hands-on learning experiences for all ages. Whether you’re looking to improve your gardening skills, explore new eco-friendly techniques, or simply connect with others, our free workshops offer valuable knowledge and an opportunity to engage with like-minded individuals. Join us and be part of a growing, thriving community!

What is a Community Garden?

There are various types of community gardens. Turlock Community Gardens offers an allotment-style garden, where individuals, families, or groups can rent or sponsor their own garden plots to grow food and plants in a shared space.

Garden beds are available for rent or sponsorship, providing individuals, families, and groups with the opportunity to grow their own food and build connections within the community. If you’re interested in joining a free gardening group or would like to be added to the waitlist for a garden bed, visit the Gardener page for more information.
