2022 Rooting for Change Conference

Free, one day conference on urban agriculture. Topics will include: community and school gardens, food waste and composting, organic gardening, urban green space, biodiversity, and urban agriculture as part of the solution to the climate crisis.
All welcome!
Registration is required (see below). Conference will be limited to 100 people.


Morning: Lectures, small discussion groups, and poster sessions.
Afternoon: Field trips to local community and school gardens.
Hosted by: Turlock Community Gardens and California State University Stanislaus

  • Guest Speakers

    Experts will share their knowledge about various topics regarding urban agriculture and sustainable practices.

  • Field Trips

    We will lead field trips to nearby community and school gardens.
    If you are interested in hosting a field trip, submit an interest form here.

  • Discussion Groups

    Small discussion groups on various topics about urban agriculture will be designed to engage the community and transform ideas into actions.

    Name-tags and pamphlets, with speaker and field trip information, will be distributed on the day of the event.

  • Grow with the Future in Mind

    Environmentally-conscious habits, such as water conservation and composting (reducing food waste sent to landfills), can spread and lead to more resilient communities.

  • 1:30PM - 5:00PM Guided Field Trips

    This program will include field trip options to local school and community gardens. A schedule will be emailed to registrants prior to the event.

  • Reshaping Local Food Systems

    This free conference will provide important educational and networking opportunities to CSUS, community members, and others interested in the benefits of community gardens in the Central Valley of California.
